Transfer of Licenses
Once there is a change of ownership in relation to an Intoxicating Liquor Licence there is a requirement to amend the licence for the new owner. This involves a procedure known as a transfer of a licence. Initially there is an Ad Interim Transfer. This allows the new licence holder to trade on a temporary basis so to speak. There is then subsequently a confirmation order which confirms all other details which would have been given at the Ad Interim stage and accordingly the new licence owner is confirmed as the owner of the licence and can trade thereafter. An Ad Interim transfer can only take place where there is already an existing licence in place and generally occurs in the following circumstances:-
- Death of a Licensee.
- The removal of a license from the premises.
- The sale of the licensees interest.
- The assignment of the licensees interest.
